Hi, I’m Lauren!

Welcome to Intentionally Embodied Birth, I’m Lauren Shields - a yogic and Ayurvedic full spectrum doula and mother of three.

Back in 2016, I answered the calling to become a doula, as well as creating a yoga practice that that is safe, nourishing, and supportive for pregnancy and postpartum. Since then, I’ve supported over one hundred families as a birth and postpartum doula, and taught thousands of hours of prenatal and postpartum yoga in and around Metro Atlanta.

I created Intentionally Embodied Birth because I’ve lived the experience of feeling disconnected to my body and my knowing during the pregnancy and postpartum transition. I’ve also learned how different it can feel when you are grounded, connected, and present with yourself on that transformational journey.

My birth philosophy:

Birth is sacred, it is a rite of passage for both parents and the baby(ies). Birth is the ceremony, postpartum the integration. The goal is not to merely survive the birth experience, but to witness deeply, who we are, and what we are capable of as women, as humans. I approach birth utilizing mindfulness and movement as tools to prepare, process and heal though this journey. We must not only connect deeply to the body but truly embody the wisdom of the divine feminine surrendering, flowing, and maturing into the wise mother.

Postpartum Planning Kit
$19.99

Although postpartum is forever, this planning kit has been designed with love to help you prepare your home, your family, and expectations for the first 40 days post birth. Inside, you'll find printable worksheets for resources and organization of your life and home. I recommend that you begin preparing while you are still pregnant, as you'll have so much other work to do healing and bonding once baby arrives. It’s a great idea to sit down with your support system to review expectations so everyone is ready for action without you having to do the mental work of delegating tasks.

This kit is solely focused on care of the birthing person and does not cover newborn/infant care. This is intentional as one may find many resources on caring for baby, but very few as it pertains to healing + support for the birthing person.

PDF Digital Download available up to 24 hours after purchase.

Closing of the Bones Ceremony
$222.00

This ancestral ceremony is a physical and spiritual way of honoring, acknowledging, and closing the birth portal and early postpartum journey. Widely used by a multitude of cultures around the world, this ceremony is performed in the home, and includes belly massage, energy work, and wrapping of the body using scarves. We’ll start with an herbal foot soak, while checking in and sharing your birth/postpartum story. You’ll then lie down on a prepared space on the floor, where Lauren will perform belly massage with oil to support organ health and the return of energy to the mother’s creative center. This massage includes the use of herbs to warm the womb and belly. Next, we’ll find alignment and a light stretch through the entire body as we begin wrapping the body starting at the feet. Gentle sound bowls and aromatherapy will be offered as mams rests in her cocoon. After the ceremony, cacao is shared with the entire family to close the circle.

Ceremony takes about 2-3 hours and take place in Lauren’s home studio, The Mutha Den.

Family is welcome to attend and assist with wrapping and childcare.

Once purchased, you will receive a phone call from Lauren to schedule.
